Skills/Experience:
National Certificate in Mental Health Level 4 qualification
1-2 years relevant acute/residential/community mental health experience
Current (CPI) Calming, restraint and Crisis Prevention Intervention Certificate OR
Mapa (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) training OR
SPEC (Safe Practice Effective Communication) training
Hoist training and competency
First aid training (preferred)

Duties include:
Reporting to the charge nurse and being delegated tasks to be completed in a timely manner
Assist mentally impaired or emotionally disturbed patients, working under direction of nursing and medical staff.
Assist with daily living activities, lead patients in educational and recreational activities, or accompany patients to and from examinations and treatments.
The Mental Health Assistant will perform delegated care duties, housekeeping duties and food service duties to enhance the recovery of Service Users
Performing close and constant observations in accordance to hospital policys.
***Please note if you are successful before starting in the hospitals, we require you to have an up to date health screen test and CPR certificate***
