Job role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to provide maternity cover and to provide additional support during our Annual Report and Long Term Plan projects. The ideal candidate will be available as soon as possible and have experience handling account reconciliation, responding to queries from other parts of our organisation and maintaining our asset register. Working closely with the Financial Accounting Team Leader and other accountants, candidates will also provide additional support in responding to audit queries. We are looking for a candidate who has strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and excited to work in this fast-paced environment.
The Role (fixed term 9 months)
You will responsible for a wide range of duties in your role as Assistant Accountant reporting to the Financial Accounting Team Leader:
Assist with day-to-day operations of the Finance team, that include monthly journals and month-end reconciliations.
Preparation of daily cash flow statements and other treasury tasks.
Fixed asset accounting.
Collaboration with other teams to ensure accurate asset registers are maintained.
Provide assistance in our Annual Report and Long Term Plan projects.
The skills and personal attributes we look for are:
Membership of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (or equivalent),
Proven ability to identify problems and use initiative to find solutions,
Proven experience in asset accounting and maintaining fixed asset registers,
Experience with TechOne would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised, reporting and contributing to the effectiveness of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
