Description
Impala takes up residence in the basement of the former Southern Insurance Building on Shortland Street in the CBD where the infamous CODE vacated only a few years ago. Echoes of the building's stately history shine in the women's bathroom with a steel safe door firmly attached to the wall, and a curl of small steps rising up from the basement to ground level.
Impala is the baby of Red Rum Touring international event promoters Daniel Farley and Reuben Rivers-Smith, Who have brought hugely popular DJ acts to Kiwi shores, with the prestigious list including Kiwi favourite Wilkinson, as well as Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus and What So Not. This year they added Excision, Getter, Brohug, Habstrakt, and Slumberjack to their repertoir - along with countless other acclaimed international acts.
The Impala layout has been built from the ground up over the past two years with the DJ experience its central feature. A raised DJ booth sits between two lounge spaces, with a "no compromise" sound system designed to uplift every corner of this significantly upgraded restoration project.
Expect big things and even bigger acts for this club, setting the highest bar in Auckland's nightclub scene.
