Description
Originally the South Island outpost for North Island tannery Tasman Tanning, the LAPCO story begins in 1991 in Christchurch. It has been New Zealand owned and operated for the last 30 years.
Kerian and Stuart Savill have been in the leather trade for over 32 years, acquiring LAPCO in 2008. Sourcing the finest quality leather became a key component of the business. Responding to a demand for both trusted quality leathers, and for the expertise needed to select the right leather for the job.
With the closing of Astley’s Tannery in New Lynn, they quickly moved to source an alternate supply of world class vegetable-tanned saddlery and craft leather. This ensured continuity of supply for Kiwi artisans and craftsmen. This leather boasts to be the finest English bridle leather outside of England.
